Questions, answered
Before you get in touch.
The things people most often want to know — booking and waiting times, what Mark does and does not take on, and how a job actually runs.
- 01How far ahead do I need to book?
- A fair way. The diary currently runs around ten months ahead — as of April 2026 — because every job is Mark’s own work and he only takes on what he can do properly. If you have a project in mind, the earlier you get in touch, the better the chance of the slot you want.
- 02Does Mark actually do the work himself?
- Yes — every job, personally, from preparation through to the final coat and the tidy-up. There is no subcontracted labour and no rotating team. It is the single reason the finish is so consistent, and the thing clients mention most.
- 03What kind of work do you take on?
- Interior and exterior painting and decorating: walls and ceilings, woodwork, doors and window frames, exterior render and joinery, feature walls and detail work, and whole-home redecoration. Both residential and commercial — a local dental practice among the commercial jobs.
- 04Do you offer interior design or supply furniture?
- No — Mark is a decorator, not an interior designer. He will give you honest, detailed advice on colours, sheens and which products suit each room, but the styling decisions stay yours. If you are working with a designer, he is happy to work to their scheme.
- 05Will my house be left in a mess?
- No. Careful preparation and protection is a large part of the job: furniture moved and covered, floors protected, and everything cleaned down at the end. Clients describe rooms left spotless — often tidier than they started.
- 06Can you advise on colours and paint finishes?
- Yes. You will get clear, detailed information on which products Mark would use and why — for example matt where you want depth on walls, and hard-wearing eggshell or satinwood on woodwork that takes knocks. The right finish depends on the room and how it is used.
- 07Are you insured, and can I trust you in my home?
- Yes on both. Mark is CRB checked and fully covered by public liability insurance. Reviews repeatedly describe him as professional, courteous and trustworthy — "a real craftsman and a gentleman to boot," as one puts it.
- 08Which areas do you cover?
- Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Prestbury, Mobberley, Knutsford and the wider Cheshire villages, plus parts of Greater Manchester. Based on Elm Cres, Alderley Edge. If you are nearby but not sure, just ask.
- 09How do I get a quote?
- Call or message Mark and, for most jobs, he will arrange to come and look. You get a clear quote and an honest idea of when he could fit the work in — with none of the waiting weeks for a quote that clients say they had elsewhere.
Still want to ask?
If your question is not here, put it to Mark directly — he would rather you asked than wondered.
